Nature-friendly activities that do not harm our planet

If you haven’t made plans for this summer yet, there are some great things you can do out in nature, and with your enjoyment, our planet can benefit. Summer is a green time of the year, so green summer activities are what you want to look for this season!

Nature

1. Camping

Being outdoors, in nature, exploring the environment is a priceless experience. So, grab your tent and sleeping bag and invite your friends to spend a couple of nights under the stars. When you’re camping, you get a chance to get in touch with nature, wildlife and see the stars away from the bright lights of the big city. So, given all the benefits of camping, why not help protect the only planet we have while enjoying everything the outdoors has to offer? By choosing products with fewer chemicals and more sustainable fabrics, we’re ensuring our outdoor gear isn’t harming the environment. The other thing you can do is reduce CO2 emissions by limiting the number of vehicles you use for your trip. If you’re going with a group of people, take just one, big car. Last but not least, after the fun is over, make sure you don’t leave anything behind. Take a few bags to sort your plastics, cans or food, and return home with them so you can recycle as usual. Leaving trash behind can be risky for wildlife, and it can spread further in the forest, taking years to degrade.

2. Biking

When it comes to biking, think of the numerous benefits this great outdoor activity has to offer. The very nature of biking is eco-friendly already – no car means no gas or harmful emissions. Not only will you decrease the emissions of greenhouse gasses, but you will also save a lot of money on transportation. And on top of all that, you don’t even have to own a bike – you can always rent it, which is even better than buying it. More than being an eco-friendly mode of transport, cycling is also a much cleaner way of transport and commuting. It uses only one energy source, your own! Why travel somewhere by car, when you can use your bike and enjoy amazing sights you haven’t even been aware of before. Besides “being green”, biking is one of the best ways to workout and lots of fun. And it’s free! If you are a daredevil, you have to try mountain biking. Imagine getting a full-body workout and seeing places you couldn’t even imagine. However, like in any sport, make sure that you protect yourself from any possible harm. Before you take your bike and hit the mountains, find out more about how you can protect your body and be safe.

3. Paddling

Not only is it great for your body, but it’s also a great way to get in touch with nature, and if water makes you feel relaxed, this is the right thing for you. Paddling allows us to enjoy the stunning beauty of nature and connects us with the natural environment. And if you choose using boats that are not made of harmful materials, you get an excellent nature-friendly activity. These boats can be recycled while others can be sold again while saving trees in the process. Many paddling enthusiasts realize the utmost importance to go eco-friendly while enjoying a physical activity as well. You can also choose green, eco-friendly pedal boats made of aluminum. The greenest, eco-friendly, paddle boat is a borrowed, rented or improvised type. Not to mention the benefits of paddling for your health, such as strengthening your muscles, lowering stress levels and increasing flexibility.

4. Kayaking

Kayaking is another type of paddling that is also a great activity for those who love water and want to get in touch with nature. This low-impact sport has many benefits, from improving your mental health to enhancing your social life. Even as a novice, you can easily learn the basics of kayaking in a single day. Kayaks do not emit any harmful gases, but you can always make an eco-friendly activity, like kayaking, even less harmful to the environment. When shopping for the gear you need, look for products made from recycled materials, which is important as recycling prevents waste from emitting harmful chemicals and greenhouse gases. An even better solution is renting, as you can do the research in advance and find out who rents eco-friendly gear that you can use. Also, bear in mind wildlife, keep noise to a minimum to avoid disturbing the animals in their habitats. If you are on a river, avoid paddling over gravel areas with a low water level where fish may be spawning.

Instead of spending money on booking a fancy hotel by the seaside, choose some of these great activities. Not only are they great for socializing and health, but you will also get in touch with nature and discover its beauties while helping our planet by keeping it green.
